All our soaps are made with a technique called the “cold process”.

Cold process soap is made by combining oils and lye (sodium hydroxide and water), which causes a chemical reaction called saponification. Our soaps are poured into molds and take 24 hours to become soap (saponify). Once removed from the mold, they dry for 4-6 weeks, to allow the bars to harden and for the water to evaporate.

Each of our soaps is made with at least four different vegetable oils and butters (olive oil, sunflower seed oil, coconut oil, Shea butter, sweet almond oil, or avocado oil or castor oil) and palm oil free. Every oil has different beneficial qualities for your skin. All are soaps are naturally scented, and we include only pure essential oils and never synthetic fragrances. We only use natural colorants such as botanical powders and clays.

Shampoo bars are not a product of saponification (oils + lye) but they are made by mixing “detergents” (or “surfactants”) with other natural ingredients, including vegetable oils and plants extracts. The surfactants are molecules derived from fats and can give lather and cleansing properties to the shampoo. I always use the combination of two surfactants: Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate powder and Cocamidopropyl Betaine.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a palm-free natural surfactant derived from coconut. It has high foaming performance, extreme mildness, as well as soft and silky skin after-feel characteristics.

Our shampoo bars always include an organic vegetable oil suited to haircare. Hemp seed oil can moisturize the hair, stimulate their growth and strengthen it. Coconut oil could help you grow your hair longer by moisturizing your hair and reducing breakage, protecting your hair from protein loss and damage when wet and protecting your hair from environmental damage like wind, sun, and smoke.

Our shampoo bars are delicately scented, and we only include pure essential oils and never synthetic fragrances. We only botanical powders and clays for their properties. Our bars contain aloe vera powder, which can help strengthen your hair.
